The solid wood scabbard of this katana is beautifully crafted. The blade is hand-forged from steel containing a high proportion of manganese. This type of alloy is known for its high resistance to impact and abrasion. It is often considered to be the ultimate hardening steel, and allows for valuable forging work. The tsuba is made from copper alloy and the handle is solid wood.
