Description
A copper tsuba separates the solid wood handle from the blade. The blade has a high manganese content, often rightly referred to as the ultimate hardening steel. This gives it exceptional hardness. The hand-forged blade is partly gold-plated. The scabbard is made of solid wood. Like the handle, which reveals gold motifs beneath the cord, it too is decorated in this hue. A protective cotton cover completes the set.
Gold has always been a symbol of wealth, power and authority. Some samurai held great wealth. No doubt they would have liked to show it off with a katana like this one.

In Australia, katanas fall into the category of "controlled weapons". Contrary to popular belief, the sale of controlled weapons is not totally banned in Australia. However, the purchase of a katana is subject to age restrictions, limited to adults aged 18 or over.
